Behind every bottle is a winemaker story.

Caparzo 1.

Only silence, wood, and the breath of wine.

That is how my encounter with Caparzo begins—a different kind of winery, where every detail tells a story and time seems to slow down.

The Caparzo winery is different, unusual, surprising.

You can already sense it from the entrance staircase, where concrete and wood merge in perfect balance. The wood comes from old barrels—an inspired idea that brings together memory and innovation. From this detail alone, you understand that you are not entering just any winery.

On the walls, hundreds of photographs capture the soul of the Caparzo family: collaborators, people who have been part of this reality over time—the past, the present, and the future. In each image, someone holds a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino Caparzo, with the vintage corresponding to the year of birth of the person portrayed. It is a simple yet deeply moving gesture, one that speaks of intimacy and the strong bonds that animate this estate.

The atmosphere is warm, familiar—it envelops you, making you feel part of a shared story.

Then you enter the mysterious corridor that connects the common area to the cellar. It is a passage that invites silence and reflection. On the left, the photographs continue—here, children appear, the faces of the future—while on the right, works of art are displayed, small fragments of creativity that converse with the wine.

The corridor finally opens into the cellar, a place that feels like a temple dedicated to wine.

Here rest the large Slavonian oak casks of 50 and 80 hectoliters, alongside French oak (Allier) casks of 30 hectoliters. Allier oak, with its fine and compact grain, allows for slow and controlled oxygenation, lending the wines a profound elegance.

Alongside these, there are also American oak (Quercus alba) barriques, less porous and more airtight, which impart different, more intense and spicy nuances to the wine.

The large cellar breathes like a sanctuary: in the darkness and silence, the wines mature, waiting for the right moment to be bottled—and then to leave the cellar, ready to conquer the world.

After breathing in the silence of the cellar, it is time to discover what is born from that silence: Caparzo’s wines.

Each glass tells a different nuance of this place—the strength of the land, the delicacy of time, the elegance of the human hand.
