My first encounter with Marche was almost accidental.
Or perhaps it simply wasn’t the right moment to understand it.
I had already been there a couple of times in the past, on the occasion of conferences, but I never truly managed to grasp its identity. Perhaps it was the weather, or the context—or both—that left me with an incomplete impression.
It was only last year that I decided to return with a different perspective: that of someone who wants to understand a territory through its wine.
The goal was clear—to explore Verdicchio—but it quickly became something broader.
From the very first days, Marche revealed itself for what it truly is: a region both complex and harmonious, where the landscape creates a natural balance between sea and mountains. Gentle hills, diverse cultivation, historic villages—a cultural and agricultural mosaic that still preserves a strong identity.
At the heart of this territory lies the area of the Castelli di Jesi, the historical and production center of Verdicchio. A system of fortified medieval villages, largely developed during the time of Emperor Frederick II, which still defines both the landscape and the structure of the region.
It is here that Verdicchio finds some of its most distinctive expressions: wines that combine freshness, structure, and a remarkable capacity to evolve over time.
What initially began as a tasting journey gradually turned into a deeper exploration—one shaped by encounters, places, and stories worth telling.
Revisiting my articles from two years ago, I considered updating and refining them. In the end, I chose to leave them as they are, as a way to preserve the evolution of my voice and storytelling
