Dietro ogni bottiglia di vino c’e una storia del produttore di vino

Socci

The wine, especially in Italy, is the poetry of the land.

Mario Soldati

I keep as a dear moment in my  memory , the visit of the winery of family Socci, one of the nicest reminders of the estate of 2020. Being accommodated at the village Rosora, part of city Castelplanio I took advantage of the splendid sunny day and decided to go to visit the winery cca 6 km by walking .

But, as it could happen in such situation, the estimated time consumption obtained from the map is definitely not the same as that in real road conditions, and might be because of that I  arrived late to participate in the degustation,  and more than that, I was thirsty as a fish.

But just after a few minutes, the fatigue was forgotten, when I was listening a fascinating storytelling of Sig.Pierluigi Socci, the father of gentle Marika, about the production of sparkling wines by classic production method, how the new wine labels are invented and designed ( wine label of every bottle is the small piece of art and any name of wine has its story connected with different members of Socci’s family) and his ideas how to create and produce the types of wine.

The father of Marika has a strong temperament and unforgettable personality. It’s enough to thought about his  non separable hat, in fact, the wine label of Spumante Metodo Classico Peter Luis is inspired by image of the father Socci with his characteristic hat .

Degustations are performed outside of winery, in neighbourhood of the vineyards roots under the shadow of the big mulberry tree. Afterwards, together with Marika Socci, we  visited  different vineyards , a nice experience at  that marvellous place. Socci’s company is located on the hill Montedeserto, at the city Castelplanio, at the 350 m above the sea level. Vineyard is well situated  , with a good ventilation and covered by a calcareous soil.

In production of wines  the new technology Vinooxygen is used which allows to produce wine without the wine transfer. The solid parts are automatically convoyed to internal part of the small tank ,which is separated from the principal one. In a such way, on the demand of operator, every time when the necessity to make racking comes , it is enough just only to run off and to clean up the volume of about several tens of litres instead of racking of all wine.

When speaking with Mr Pierluigi you probably immediately understand ,that he is the man full of new innovative ideas like this one, which is to use the new progressive technologies to create a new quality products.

The philosophy of Soci’s company is to use the same typology of grapes for the production of different wines taking advantage of the most exceptional characteristics of Verdichio..

Martina – Verdichio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore, the freshness obtained through the low temperature maceration , which helps to enlarge the aroma and quality .

Deserto – Verdichio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore. There are assembled the tradition and elegance, the wine is created from the selection of the best grapes from vineyard.

Marika – Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore 2018. This wine is produced by the method of selective Crioestraction , it means , freezing of grapes before the pressing.

Bianca – Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC 2018, all grapes are collected manually, Verdichio  wine is produced through Vinooxygen system. The obtained wine has full body , the structure and      shows the aroma full of typical scents .

Ousia – Spumante Metodo Classico Milessimato Pas Dosé, Marche Igt, harvested 2016, 36 months on lees. Nose is full of aroma acacia,of  the hay and of aromatic herbs, scents of baking end honey. Effervescent is creamy, fine, the wine is fresh, sapid, with typical bitter aftertaste.

Peter Luis – Spumante Metodo Classico Milessimato Brut, harvested 2016,  24 months on lees. Decent dosage keeps the wine fresh, bubbles are creamy and fine, but at the same time the character of Verdichio is recognisable, with reminiscents of the white fruits and typical scents of almond.

Now we should leave Socci’s winery ….and let’s move to the next place of marvellous Marche Region .
